How a Thibodaux Pediatric Practice Reached 30,000 People With One Facebook Post
Preferred Pediatrics grew Facebook followers 9.2% in 15 weeks, with one post reaching 30,939 people. See what worked for this Thibodaux pediatric practice.
Preferred Pediatrics is a pediatric practice in Thibodaux, Louisiana, founded in 2002 by Dr. Anne Boudreaux and colleagues. The team includes nurse practitioners Catherine Fangue, FNP-C, who has been with the practice since 2010, and Hayley Chatagnier, FNP-C, since 2023. The practice tagline is "Pediatrics with a Mother's Touch," and the waiting room is painted with ocean murals of sharks, sea turtles, and a shipwreck.
Make Waves Marketing took over Facebook and launched Instagram on May 15, 2026, after redesigning the practice website earlier in the year. This page covers the first three and a half months of social media.
In that period, Facebook followers grew from 2,251 to 2,459, a gain of 208 (+9.2%), in 15 weeks with no paid promotion. Twenty-six posts were published. Nine reached more than 5,000 people. The top post, introducing Dr. Boudreaux, reached 30,939 people with 745 reactions, 42 shares, and 97 comments.
Parents choose a pediatrician by asking other parents. A post that 30,000 local people saw and 97 commented on is that conversation happening in public. The practice is accepting new patients, and every high-reach post said so. All figures are organic, from Metricool.

The three posts that did the work
June 29. Meet Dr. Anne Boudreaux. Co-founder, 25 years caring for children in the Bayou Region. Reached 30,939. Comments were parents, now grandparents, saying she had treated two generations of their family.
June 14. The team photo. "A good pediatric practice feels less like a doctor's office and more like an extension of your village." Reached 21,414 with 509 reactions and 32 shares.
July 14. Meet Catherine Fangue, FNP-C. Thibodaux native, mother of two, the practice's first nurse practitioner. Reached 16,150 with 463 reactions, 17 shares, and 49 comments.
Between them, three posts naming three people reached roughly 68,000 people, or 28 times the page's follower count.
The rest of the top nine
| Post | Date | Reach | Reactions | Shares | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Front desk team, now accepting new patients | Aug 5 | 8,648 | 86 | 2 | 2 |
| Meet Hayley Chatagnier, FNP-C | Jul 28 | 7,084 | 190 | 10 | 12 |
| Ocean-mural waiting room | Jul 9 | 5,758 | 87 | 1 | 8 |
| "A mother's touch" care philosophy, new patients welcome | Aug 11 | 5,341 | 71 | 3 | 4 |
| Founded in 2002, over 20 years | Jun 4 | 5,198 | 108 | 23 | 3 |
| What a stethoscope checks during a well visit | Aug 18 | 5,132 | 39 | 1 | 0 |
What reached fewer people
Health education posts without a person in the photo reached much less: the mosquito and bee sting guide reached 291, immunization awareness posts reached 284 and 635, infant fever guidance reached 515, UV safety reached 521, summer heat tips reached 397, and swimsuit color and water safety reached 993. These posts stay in the calendar for search value and because parents save them, but they do not spread on their own. The exception was the exam-tool series: the stethoscope post reached 5,132 and the otoscope post reached 1,031, because both included a photo from inside the exam room.
Two posts published without captions reached 1,718 and 4,284 with 14 and 44 shares. Whatever those photos were, they traveled. Every post now ships with copy so that reach converts to a phone call.
What the practice and the agency agreed on
- One provider or staff spotlight per month, on rotation, so each name comes up twice a year
- Two posts per week on Facebook, cross-posted to Instagram as that account builds
- Education posts photographed inside the practice rather than built from stock graphics
- "Now accepting new patients" and the phone number in every people post
- HIPAA rules: no patient names, faces, or details without written parental authorization; staff are photographed, patients are not
- Monthly report on reach, engagement, follower change, and top posts
Why this works for pediatrics specifically
A pediatric office is a relationship business with a built-in referral loop: parents talk to parents. Social media for a pediatric practice should show the people the child will see, the room the child will sit in, and the fact that the practice is taking new families. Preferred Pediatrics' first 15 weeks are the clearest example in the Make Waves Marketing portfolio of that principle producing reach. It also stands in contrast to a specialty surgical practice the agency manages, where education posts dominate the calendar and reach per post is a fraction of this. The difference comes down to the number of people in the photos.
