Bolton Equipment Services: The First 120 Days on Social Media
An early look at Bolton Equipment Services' first four months of social media, where Meet the Team posts drove 60% of all Facebook reach in Thibodaux.
Bolton Equipment Services sells, rents, and repairs forklifts and heavy equipment out of Thibodaux, Louisiana. This case study covers the first 120 days of a new social media engagement, a shorter window than most of our case studies, because the reach data already tells a clear story and prospects often ask what the early months of a new account look like.
What Bolton Equipment does
Bolton Equipment Services is Louisiana's first authorized Tailift forklift dealer and also carries Noblelift. The service team of five has more than 50 years of combined experience and runs 24/7 mobile repair on any make or model, from forklifts and telehandlers to dozers and excavators. The shop has access to more than 7 million parts and builds hydraulic hoses in-house. Operations Manager Philip Bolton has been with the company seven years, and the shop dog is named Biscuit.
Why this page is short
Make Waves Marketing began managing Bolton's Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn on April 30, 2026. Four months is enough to see which posts work and not enough to claim growth. Follower counts barely moved: Facebook went from 1,249 to 1,254, Instagram from 5 to 10, and LinkedIn from 16 to 17. We are publishing this case study anyway because the reach data on individual posts already points to a clear pattern.
What the first 28 posts showed
| Rank | Post | Date | Reach | Reactions | Comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Meet Craig Bergeron, Technician (works alongside his son Brant) | Aug 18 | 6,678 | 58 | 20 |
| 2 | Meet Brant Bergeron, Service Coordinator | Jul 28 | 2,137 | 58 | 0 |
| 3 | Meet Philip Bolton, Operations Manager | Jun 9 | 1,392 | 27 | 1 |
| 4 | Meet Michelle Bourgeois, Office Manager (series launch) | May 26 | 1,269 | 49 | 3 |
| 5 | The service team: five guys, 50+ years | Aug 24 | 923 | 22 | 0 |
| 6 | Forklift donated to the Thibodaux Firemen's Fair | Apr 30 | 459 | 13 | 1 |
| 7 | "The forklift guy is watching" maintenance reminder | Jun 30 | 440 | 12 | 0 |
| 8 | National Safety Month preventive maintenance | Jun 7 | 424 | 36 | 0 |
| 9 | New Tailift forklifts on the lot | Jun 18 | 344 | 2 | 0 |
| 10 | "We're not a 1-800 number" | May 21 | 331 | 11 | 3 |
Every other post in the period, the 24/7 mobile service pitches, the Noblelift and Tailift product posts, the parts inventory post, and the "any make, any model" reminders, reached between 50 and 260 people.
The four Meet the Team posts account for roughly 60% of all reach in the period. The Craig Bergeron post reached more than five times the page's follower count and drew 20 comments, most of them from people who know Craig or his son.
What that means for the next 120 days
Meet the Team stays weekly, since two technicians and the owner have not been featured yet, and each spotlight so far has outperformed every service post combined. Service posts get a face: "24/7 mobile repair" reaches 130 people as a graphic, and the same message with a photo of Craig under a forklift at a customer's dock is expected to reach more, a hypothesis being tested through October. Customer equipment gets named going forward. The Yale forklift "patient" post, which reached 167, had the right idea but no customer or location, so job photos with make, model, and the customer's business name, with permission, are going on the calendar. LinkedIn gets its own copy rather than mirrored posts, since seventeen followers means the page is currently invisible to the contractors and warehouse managers who buy forklifts. Follower growth is treated as a 2027 metric: for a B2B equipment dealer with a local customer base, the first goal is reach into the right households and businesses, and the Meet the Team series is already doing that.
Questions prospects ask
Did the page grow? Not yet in follower count, moving from 1,249 to 1,254 on Facebook in four months. Reach told a different story: the top post reached 6,678 people organically.
What worked? Employee spotlights. Four Meet the Team posts produced about 60% of total reach in the period.
What did not work? Service and product graphics without a person in them. Those posts reached 50 to 260 people each.
Was any of this paid? No. Every figure on this page is organic, from Metricool.
Why publish a case study this early? Prospects ask what the first four months of social media management look like for a small industrial business, and this is an honest answer: the people posts work first, and the growth follows.
