Make Waves Marketing manages Facebook and Instagram for Wag-A-Pak, a family-owned convenience store chain operated by Waguespack Oil Company since 1984 with locations in Thibodaux, Houma, Vacherie, and Patterson, Louisiana. Since June 2025, the Facebook page has grown from 3,743 to 3,931 followers with no paid promotion, and store news posts have reached as many as 19,786 people. The lesson from 47 posts: store openings, hot food, and hiring outperform packaged snack promotions ten to one. All results are organic.
Make Waves Marketing reviewed all 45 Facebook posts from March 1 to September 1, 2026. Three post types produced most of the reach.
Why it works: a new food vendor in a new location is the single most-shared thing a convenience store can post. The 1984 heritage post drew 16 comments from long-time customers naming their store.
Why it works: food made or scooped in the store is a reason to drive there. Packaged national brands are available anywhere.
Why it works: low effort, cheap to produce, and the Coke poll drew 16 comments. Not every prompt lands, but they keep the page active between food posts.

Convenience store social media is a frequency business. The page exists to keep the store name in front of local drivers several times a week. Follower growth is slow by design; reach on the posts that matter (new location, new food vendor, hiring) is the measure.
A convenience store's marketing competes with national chains that run TV and app promotions. Wag-A-Pak needed a low-cost way to:
Two to three posts per week on Facebook, cross-posted to Instagram. The seasonal calendar is built around Louisiana rhythms: boat season, Firemen's Fair, back to school, hunting season, Mardi Gras. Store-made food comes first, packaged products second. Location-specific announcements cover openings, hiring, and vendor partnerships. Monthly reporting on reach, engagement, and follower change is shared alongside the Waguespack Oil report.
Messaging follows the StoryBrand framework. The driver is the hero with a long day. Wag-A-Pak is the guide with the cold drink and hot plate. The call to action is the next exit.
