What Platform Is This Website Built On?
Check the public signals behind a website. See the evidence for its platform, with confidence attached.
How the check works
The checker reads the HTML returned by one public website address. It looks for generator metadata and recognizable resource URLs. WordPress paths such as wp-content and wp-includes can support a WordPress result. Platform-specific assets can provide evidence for Wix, Shopify, Squarespace, Webflow, or Lovable.
Confidence reflects the strength of those signals. Multiple independent markers support higher confidence. Conflicting signals return Unknown because a page can combine services or keep assets left over from an earlier website.
Theme directory names and plugin slugs come from public paths in that page. They can differ from a product's display name. A plugin used elsewhere on the site, a renamed directory, or an asset hidden behind login will be missed. The results describe the checked page and do not claim to list everything installed.
The checker does not execute website scripts or sign in. Some websites block automated requests, and sites that reveal their platform only after scripts run can return Unknown. A platform name says nothing about vulnerabilities, ownership, or who hosts the site.
Only public HTTP and HTTPS pages are accepted. Private network addresses, password-protected URLs, and custom ports are blocked. A page that takes too long or exceeds the reading limit produces an error. These limits keep a website check bounded.
Explore website design or website maintenance if your next step is improving the site you already have.
Website checker questions
How does the website checker identify WordPress?
It reads the public page HTML for WordPress generator metadata and resource paths such as wp-content and wp-includes. A public wp-json reference is another signal. Confidence depends on the evidence present in that page.
Can it find every WordPress theme and plugin?
Only theme directory names and plugin slugs visible in the checked page can appear. A renamed directory, bundled asset, or hidden plugin can be missed. A directory slug may differ from a product's display name.
Why does a website return Unknown?
A page can hide its platform markers or include assets from several systems. Unknown means the available evidence does not support a single platform. An inaccessible page produces an error rather than a technology guess.
Does a platform result tell me whether a site is secure?
A platform name does not establish a website's security or vulnerability status. This checker reads public HTML; it does not log in, scan for vulnerabilities, or identify a hosting provider.
